EXECUTIVE TEAM 2026/27

EXECUTIVE TEAM 2026/27

Meet the team and learn about their goals for their time with Women in Engineering (WiE) at UBC!

  • Maya

    CO-PRESIDENT

    YEAR 5 | ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

I would like to create a supportive and encouraging space for women in engineering. My goal is for everyone who attends WiE events or gets involved with us to leave feeling more confident, well-informed, and like they have a place in engineering. Engineering was a career path I was initially not very familiar with and found intimidating, but it has turned out to be one of the most rewarding fields I could have entered, both in terms of the quality of work, the range of career opportunities, and the people I get to work with. I hope I can help make engineering just as rewarding for others as it has been for me.

  • Marina

    CO-PRESIDENT

    YEAR 4 | BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

As Co-President this year, my goal is to help build a welcoming and supportive engineering community where students can find mentorship, explore new opportunities, and feel confident pursuing paths that they might not otherwise have considered. I hope to contribute to a culture and environment where everyone feels encouraged to grow and find their place within engineering!:)

  • Hazel

    CO VP OUTREACH & EDUCATION

    YEAR 5 | BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

My goal at WiE is to help make engineering more accessible and encourage more students to explore opportunities in STEM. I hope to expand our outreach initiatives to reach students from a wider range of schools and backgrounds. Through our mentorship program, I hope to create opportunities for students to develop new skills, connect with role models, and feel more confident pursuing engineering.

  • Hannah

    CO VP OUTREACH & EDUCATION

    YEAR 5 | ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

My goal for my time at WiE is to make engineering more welcoming and accessible! As an electrical engineering student, I am very aware of the underrepresentation of women in engineering. Meeting female engineering students, professors, and mentors helped me to feel more at home, and I hope to provide the same sense of community to other young women interested in getting involved in STEM!

  • Ria

    CO VP PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

    YEAR 4 | ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

I joined WiE to help foster a community that supports and empowers women in engineering. As VP of Professional Development, I hope to create opportunities for members to explore different career paths, build industry connections, and develop skills that will support them beyond the classroom. I want to help make professional growth feel more accessible, collaborative, and less intimidating for everyone.

  • Lara

    CO VP PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

    YEAR 4 | COMPUTER ENGINEERING

My goal for my time at WiE is to create opportunities for women in engineering to develop their professional skills. While there are many resources available online, finding relevant and reliable information can be overwhelming. I hope to make these resources more accessible by hosting events for individuals to strengthen their communication, networking, and other soft skills so they feel more confident and prepared for the professional world.

  • Julia

    CO VP EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

    YEAR 3 | CHEMICAL & BIOLOGICAL ENGINEERING

My goal for my time at WiE is to strengthen WiE’s presence and build meaningful connections with students, industry professionals, and the wider engineering community. I love seeing more and more women pursue engineering, and I want to help support their journeys! I also hope to connect WiE members with organizations beyond engineering, from mental health initiatives to outdoor clubs, to promote work-life balance and highlight the importance of well-being beyond academics and careers.

  • Ariana

    CO VP EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

    YEAR 2 | CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

My goal on the WiE external team is to bring new opportunities and connections to the club and its members. I want to provide a meaningful space for women in engineering at UBC, one that fosters friendship and growth. I hope to reach new industry partners to expand our resources and network. More importantly, I plan to reach every woman in our community looking for a safe, fun and constructive space to flourish!

  • Simone

    CO VP WiSE

    YEAR 5 | BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

This year, I want to further develop my leadership skills through the WiSE committee and continue to bridge the gap between university and industry. I’m passionate about creating an inclusive space for students to build meaningful connections and support their personal goals. I also just want to get to know more of the WiE committee members!

  • Cynthia

    CO VP WiSE

    YEAR 4 | INTEGRATED ENGINEERING

My goal at WiE is to help foster an inclusive and supportive environment for underrepresented groups in engineering. I want to create a space where people feel comfortable contributing their ideas and where students, especially those in the early stages of their careers, feel inspired. Through events such as the WiSE Mentorship Night, I hope to give students opportunities to expand their networks, meet new people, and feel more connected to the engineering community. I also hope to learn from and collaborate with other like-minded, hardworking individuals who share the same passion for supporting women in engineering.

  • Melissa

    CO VP COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

    YEAR 3 | CHEMICAL & BIOLOGICAL ENGINEERING

My goal for my time at WiE is to create a fun and welcoming environment where women and allies in engineering feel empowered and supported. As Co-VP of Community Engagement, I want all our events to be spaces where people can connect and build friendships that go beyond the classroom. Ultimately, I want WiE to be the place people think of when they need encouragement or a reminder that they never have to navigate engineering alone!

  • Prapti

    CO VP COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

    YEAR 4 | CHEMICAL & BIOLOGICAL ENGINEERING

I remember meeting some of my closest female friends in engineering at events that give us the space to hangout that aren't centred around academics or careers! As co-VP of Community Engagement for the past two years, I've had so much fun working with my team to host events that we all are passionate about. My favourite has been the Gingerbread decorating, which was so fun to plan and be a part of :)
