High School Mentorship Program

The UBC WiE High School Mentorship Program aspires to increase female* high school students' access to UBC engineering and to create a space where they can explore what engineering is and has to offer. High school students are paired in groups with current UBC Engineering students. Groups are expected to meet at least once a month (virtually or in-person at the discretion of the group) to discuss topics such as the different engineering programs, transitioning from high school to university, and what first year engineering at UBC has to offer. Through our program curriculum, mentees will have the opportunity to learn more about engineering and engage in the UBC Engineering community (previous events have included an Opening Ceremony/ Program Social, engineering skill-based workshops, a UBC Campus Tour, Industry Night, etc.).

* We acknowledge that the term “female” is not an accurate description for many people, and use * to include cis and trans women, non-binary, and intersex people.
